Nearly one billion people go hungry every day. Meanwhile, a significant amount of food currently grown worldwide is lost due to insects and other pests attacking the plants in addition to microbes. Reducing this loss by just 1% could feed millions. Past few decades have seen a surge in new technologies in the agricultural field. However, no technology is a permanent solution as the organisms keep evolving making it hard for scientists to keep pace with their evolution. The need of the hour is, for the scientific community to come together and collaborate to alleviate the problem and to provide food security and thereby contributing for human welfare.
